Wild Mushroom Foraging
March 16 | 9:00am – 12:00pm
Back by popular demand! Join us as we learn the “Five Essential Things You Need to Know to Safely Forage Wild Mushrooms” from mycologist and expert Marty Colvin.
We’ll do some classroom learning with Marty, and then you’ll be free to hunt for your own mushrooms on the Preserve. After you’re finished foraging, we’ll gather around the campfire, identify your finds, and maybe do a little taste-testing before you take home your mushrooms.
This event is hosted in partnership with Augusta Locally Grown. Cost is $20 per person.
Proceeds benefit community gardens and edible forests.
Please note: This is an adult-focused event. However, if you have a child who’s interested in mycology or whom you think would enjoy learning, you’re welcome to bring them along. Just be aware that you will be walking through the woods, over rough and possibly muddy terrain, and that there are some basic safety concerns regarding foraging for mushrooms. For instance, our mycologist will identify the mushrooms before you eat or take them home — children in attendance should be mature enough to understand that the mushrooms aren’t for consumption until they have been identified.

No refunds, all sales are final. In the event of inclement weather, best attempts will be made to make arrangements for an alternate event date.
