1,300+ Acres Preserved in December 2016

December 2016 was a busy month for the Land Trust.  The Mills Family preserved 894 acres of their family farm, Grace Plantation, in Dearing, GA, including: two pristine miles of Brier Creek, one of the largest ponds in the CSRA, prime habitat for ducks, geese and bald eagles, a beautiful river swamp, hardwood forests, pastures, and plenty of local history!

And as if this wasn’t enough good news, the Land Trust was also fortunate to permanently protect nearly 300 acres of scenic farmland, forest, and pastures at the Chime Bell Preserve in Aiken County, in a part of the County that is attractive to development.

These two exciting projects helped the Land Trust cross a major milestone of 7,000+ acres permanently preserved throughout the CSRA.  We are thrilled to grow this legacy of beauty, health, and longevity for our community!
