The Savannah River has long been the backbone of our community. Since pre-colonial times, the River has played a vital role in local commerce, sustaining those that live along its banks, and providing us with a place to relax, play, and enjoy the wildness of our natural world. Each day we are all inextricably connected to the River, from the water we drink and the air we breathe, to the jobs we hold and the products we buy.
The Land Trust’s mission is to preserve the plentiful natural characteristics of the Savannah and the lands that support it. Based in Augusta, we protect land throughout the central-third of the Savannah River basin, from Lake Hartwell to Plant Vogtle. We are working continually to expand our conservation efforts to include the other counties in the Central Savannah River Area, as well as grow our projects in these counties.
